Antietam Mini-Reunion with Professor James McPherson--October 16-18, 2009
Monday, April 06, 2009

Dear Classmates: We are writing to invite you to The Class of 1969's post-40th Mini Reunion, a special weekend visit to Antietam (and Harpers Ferry) with Pulitzer Prize winning Princeton Professor James McPherson. One of Professor McPherson’s many famous published works is “Crossroads of Freedom: Antietam”. Professor McPherson has offered to conduct his “proven tour” of Antietam for members of the Class of ‘69 and their spouses/significant others. The Proven Tour includes spending three days visiting the battlefields with Professor McPherson. The program consists of 2 nights’ accommodations at the Bavarian Inn & Lodge in Shepherdsburg, West Virginia and all meals, including a dinner at The Cliffside Inn in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia and a chartered bus in which we will tour the battlefield. For those of you living in the Princeton/New York areas, also included is a round trip luxury bus transportation from Princeton to Antietam. Weekend parking will be provided in a University lot. Professor McPherson will not accept payment for such trips, but instead asks that the class make a contribution to the Trust that maintains the battlefield and its environment. Thus, the total cost of the weekend (including the hotel, bus transportation, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners and a donation to the Antietam Park and taxes) is approximately $1200/couple in a standard room and $1000/person in a single occupancy room. We will not have the exact cost until we know how many are attending. Unfortunately, the number of people who can join us for the weekend is limited by the fact that each charter bus can only accommodate 56 people, including Professor McPherson. We are working on connecting two buses by telecommunication so that we can accommodate 110 people. If you wish to reserve a spot for this special weekend, it will be necessary to make a $100/person deposit by check or money order by May 15, 2009. The balance will be due by August 1, 2009. Once paid in full, it is non-refundable unless we can find a replacement for you. Places will be allotted based on the date and time that you send an email reserving a spot to: jmeyerson@meyersonlawfirm.com. Such emails will be accepted starting at noon (EDST) on Monday, May 4th. Once you receive a confirming email response, you should then send a deposit (made payable to Jack Meyerson) with the attached form to: Jack Meyerson, Esq. Meyerson & O’Neill 1700 Market St., Ste. 3025 Philadelphia, PA 19103 Such deposits must be received prior to May 15, 2009 or you will forfeit your reserved spot. If you have any questions, please email Jack Meyerson at jmeyerson@meyersonlawfirm.com or call Pam Meyerson at 215-864-1694. We look forward to sharing this unique opportunity to hear Professor McPherson’s insights as to the epic battle. Sincerely, Richard Bott, President of the Class of ‘69 Jack Meyerson, Antietam Mini Reunion Coordinator
